SUMMARY

The aim of this paper was to provide a scientific basis for improvement measures of green tree system in Thai Nguyen city. This study was carried out in four main streets, including Cach Mang Thang 8, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Hoang Van Thu and Phan Dinh Phung. As a result, there were 2125 trees identified on four main streest and they were belonged to 15 species. The most common trees found were Lagestroemia spesiosa, Terminalia ctappa, Hura crepitas, Dracontomelum mangiferum, Alstonia sholarisr and Muntigia calabura. In general, the green tree system on four main streets is not diversified, particularly in tree species component. The tree space was far beyond the regulation of urban street trees. In addition, only ten of fifteen species were satisfied with the urban planning purposes. In order to improve urban landscapes and environment, study initially suggests a list of potential tree species should be replaced unsuitable species with the purposes of urban green trees on four main streets.
