Tóm tắt nội dung

Sign languages are natural languages with their own set of gestures
and grammars. The grammar of Vietnamese sign language has significantly
different features compared with those of Vietnamese spoken/written language,
including the shortening, the grammatical ordering, and the emphasis. Natural
language processing research on Vietnamese sign language including study on
spoken/written Vietnamese text shortening into the forms of Vietnamese sign
language is completely new. Therefore, we proposed a rule-based method to
shorten the spoken/written Vietnamese sentences by reducing prepositions,
conjunctions, and auxiliary words and replacing synonyms. The experimental
results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.
