In recent years, Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training has proposed a realistic reform of changing mathematics curricula and textbooks for the secondary school levels. This innovation is going to focus on reducing some complicated contents in the textbooks and students’ cognitive development. Therefore, in this paper we would like to give mathematics teachers some recommendations for improving their teaching methods as well as effectively implement these strategies into traditional classroom. We also propose some ideas to revolutionize mathematics curriculum, especially the idea of connecting mathematics to the real world by creating some meaningful activities. These activities may make a contribution to help students gain insight into some applications of mathematics in socio-cultural contexts.
