Abstract: The ring opening reaction of 3-trifluoromethylaziridine with oxygen- and sulfur- nucleophiles is carried out under basic conditions in good to high yield with excellent regioselectivity. The regiospecific ring opening of 3-trifluoromethylaziridine by oxygen-nucleophiles as an entry to azetidine synthesis is surprising and has not yet been described in the literature so far.
