A series of novel derivatives of the 1,3-tropolone (β-tropolone) system 2-(2-quinolyl)-5,7-di(tert-butyl)-1,3-tropolones and 2-(2-quinolyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrachloro-1,3-tropolones have been prepared by the acidcatalyzed reaction of 2-methylquinolines with 3,5-di(tert-butyl)-1,2-benzoquinone and 3,4,5,6-tetrachloro-1,2-benzoquinone. The molecular structures of compounds have been determined by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. |
