The research was carried out to explore the common mistakes in English translation by English majoring students at School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Thai Nguyen University (TNU). There were 76 English majoring students at SFL-TNU involved in this study. The data collection instrument was document observation. The researcher took an observation on the translation test of the involved students in order to conduct the result of the study. The findings show that the most challenging issues students have to face are lexical choice and lengthy and awkard expressions. On the base of analysis, some suggestions for translation skills were made.
