Tóm tắt nội dung

Due to the low entrance test scores by English freshmen students at Thai Nguyen University, learners' tremendous endevors are needed in order to meet exit requirements. Such endeavors would be better if put in an engaging learning environment with abundant resources. To this end, the authors ran an extensive reading program in which students were reqruied to visit the School's BOook Club called Bookworm's corners on a weekly basis to borrow books and write a report for what they had read. It was believed and decided that to achieve an objective and proper assessment of how efffective the program is, there had to be a detailed and thorough analysis with data collcected during the 15-weeek term via such experimental means as pretests, posttests, and questionnaires. The preliminary findings prove the effectiveness of this program in strengthening reading and writing skills for first-year students. An in-depth analysis and a discussion of the findings can be found in the paper.
